Jewelry trend of 2017: Roaring animal jewelry!

As we are gradually getting used to living in 2017, we open up more to what the year will bring us, apart from our most personal New Year's Resolutions. We start to look at what holidays we might go on, what to wear and what would match those outfits perfectly.

One of the big trends is the love for poetry, for conserving nature, for sustainability. A love that expresses itself perfectly in jewelry that reflects nature. The animal kingdom is part of our wonderful planet and it not only reminds us of nature, but more often we relate to a certain animal for its particular traits. Or, we love giving them voices and human characteristics as we see in Disney movies and so on. Allow the jewelry animals that you wear to tell their story! Discover the jewelry and the trend:

Glamorous jewelry on the Golden Globe Red Carpets

Glamorous jewelry on the Golden Globe Red Carpets

Wow! La La Land, the most successful movie in the history of the Golden Globes, is certainly on my wishlist for this week!  The movie won 7 awards, including the one for Best Film.

The Golden Globes ceremony is seen as the opening of fashion season and for many the occasion to watch what jewelry the stars are wearing. Hectic times for pr agencies and stylists as magazines and blogs seem to be sometimes almost more interested in what the stars wear instead of the cultural relevance of movies. But oh my, who wears important jewelry better than those gracious actors and actresses? Longing to see who wore what?

2016, a year in 16 jewelry highlights!

It’s been an incredible year. Many famous people who enlightened our lives with their acting or singing, have left us forever. We saw the craziest of all presidentials campaigns in the U.S. with an even crazier outcome. Just navigating around on the social media platforms might give you the idea that 2016 is a year that needs to be forgotten fast. Of course, this is a sentimental, subjective feeling of some, focussing on all the bad stuff. But it’s been an exciting year for others too. The jewelry world saw its very own highlights and some lowlights. It’s, slowly but very surely, waking up from the past and all professional magazines and sites talk about how retail in jewelry is changing rapidly. Not adapting means not surviving and the industry is not just a few big companies with enough marketing budgets, but also lots and lots of smaller businesses with long family histories. We may not like it, but change is constant and one can simply never rest on their laurels. We bring you the year in 16 jewelry highlights!

34 jewelry watches to drool over!

Jewelry watches have been created to meet the demands of ladies that just don’t want to settle for a simple watch! Both jewelry brands and watch brands have gone at great length to not just meet the client wishes but to overwhelm and exceed expectations. A very niche part of both the watch- and jewelry industry, but one I like to drool over….

Torkil Gudnason, photographer of jewelry and animals

Torkil Gudnason describes working with animals and jewelry as a visual fleamarket. His stunning images surprise you and make you look twice. In a world with an overwhelming amount of images on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook, he stands out with his work. He is a known photographer for Vogue, Allure, Harper’s Bazaar and his artwork has been exhibited by many galleries and museums. I love all of his work, but it’s his jewelry photography that I love most!

My core belief about jewelry. Confessions of a jewelry blogger

My core belief about jewelry. Confessions of a jewelry blogger

My core belief about jewelry is this: it doesn't matter how expensive or cheap a piece of jewelry is, but what it brings to the owner is all that matters.

Jewelry becomes, once owned, a very personal thing. It commemorates important moments in life. As a gift perhaps, or maybe it belonged to someone you love and/or miss. It’s a reminder of family and tradition. It may be that you bought it yourself, to congratulate yourself with an achievement, to soothe yourself when in pain, or simply because you are worth it.

Jewelry will always play a huge role in our lives, we don't need it, but when it is there, they become tangible objects of our emotions and memories...
