Why red is such a great choice in jewelry

Why red is such a great choice in jewelry

Red is such a flamboyant color. I adore red lipstick, but don’t own a red piece of garment. It looks terrible on me. But the lipstick…ah the lipstick is so bold. It puts you out there and you need to be a confident woman wearing it with ease. Red color in jewelry is just as sassy as the red lipstick is. It’s kind of loud and out there. But so very charming and intriguing at the same time. And for those of you who like to be on trend: it's a shade of red, Marsala, that is thé color of 2015!

Alice in Wonderland jewelry

Alice in Wonderland appeared in 1865 and still is one of the best children's stories. Although the book is simply marvellous, it's probably Disney who made the story so well known still today. I watched the movie this week with my 6 year old son and afterwards I felt so inspired to do a blog about the story. Of course, filled with beautiful jewelry inspired by the famous Lewis Caroll story!

Halloween, such fun!

This week it is all about Halloween in many countries in the world. Although most popular in North America, the fun has spread to countries that have no connection at all with the origins of this celebration.

The Book of Life inspires you to wear bright colored skull jewelry!

The book of life is a marvelous looking 3D adventure musical comedy film, completely computer animated. I just saw the trailer and am stunned by the visual experience already. The story is about a man called Manolo and his struggle between the expectations of his family and his own heart embarking on an adventure that spans three amazing worlds, where he will face his biggest fears.

Gorgeous jewelry with a touch of green

In my garden I have this huge cherry tree. And every year it is a *thing* for us and our surrounding neighbors to see it blossoming. Sometimes it is so abundant with blossom that we all place pictures of it on Facebook or Google+. It never gets old. Maybe because the blossoming is for such a short period. Now it is turning slowly every more green.

Jewelry with animals, part 5

Some of the jewelry designers out there are so thrilling and so much seeking the edges of what is beautiful, triggers our fantasy, is still wearable and not unimportantly:  also still saleable.  Lydia Courteille has managed to surprise me once again. This time heading away from the slightly darker designs and heading to a happier animal world!

Halloween is Always a Wonderful Inspiration for Jewelry Designers

Halloween is a constant source of inspiration for the most wonderful and fairytale like jewelry. In the Netherlands we haven't yet embraced the festivities around this date, but I am sure that it might catch on in the future. Scary stuff, masks, death, pumpkins and candy. All these items are great inspiration for jewelry design
