Jewelry Ideas for Christmas: Van Cleef & Arpels!
Counting down to Christmas, the traditional greatest time for jewelry, we are diving into news and beautiful jewelry. You can never go wrong with the jewelry from Van Cleef & Arpels. I personally love the updated look of their Perlée collection, making it so much more NOW!
Perlée and beads, a little history
The Perlée collection dates from 2008, but the beads theme have always been around (for many brands). Van Cleef & Arpels, with their rich history can add a little more story behind the beads they used in their jewelry. In 1922 Tutankhamen’s tomb was found and Egyptian-style jewelry became in vogue, so they say.
Twist Bracelet 1964, Van Cleef & Arpels
In 1948, the Arpels family created a blossoming collection of necklaces, earrings and bracelet and watches, after a family trip to Morocco. They named it, Couscous collection, which I love, such a cute name.
The newest addition to the Perlée collection family, the Between Finger Ring by Van Cleef & Arpels
NEW! Between the Finger Rings!
The new three Between the Finger ™ Rings with the three bold colored cabochon gemstones are completed with a diamond set pendant and matching earstuds. Malachite, Carnelian and Turquoise, pick your favorite! Obviously all in 18kt gold and containing some diamonds. I have no doubt, I would go for the turquoise one :-)
The pieces can be easily mixed and match with other Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.
My personal view on this collection and why I would recommend it
This is what I like about this jewelry, it’s Van Cleef & Arpels. History of a brand may add to the glamour of a company, but today, no *old* company can claim status just for having been around for a long time. Millennials aren’t interested per se, in the glamour their parents and grandparents fancied. Van Cleef & Arpels is, in my opinion however, finding its path between not neglecting its heritage, whilst doing great attempts of remaining current.
Couscous Watch 1949. Van Cleef & Arpels
One always pays more for a ring created by Van Cleef & Arpels, than for a similar ring created by a lesser God. Yet, there is another side to it. It’s craftsmanship is guaranteed and for now, branded jewelry like Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Piaget, Chaumet, Boucheron, you name it, remains always more valuable should you decide to sell it one day. It’s sought after and it’s appreciated. If you like the more modern type of rings, but don’t want to go to modern, this is a great option!
Are you going to add this to your wish list for Santa this year? ;-)
