Solange Azagury_Partridge loves to tell stories. She makes lovely fillms about it. Usually, so I read, she likes to cast friends and family and so on, but this time she designed her first male collection. And she asked none other than Mark Ruffalo. Also known as the incredible Hulk, masculine yet sensitive. Maybe it was this combination that led her to ask Mark :-)
The male collection is never very flashy although there are some more colorful items, for which she is so famous in her female lines. Some contain diamonds to just add that extra luxury and bling feeling.
To make the collection even more masculin she used blackened gold. Still precious, yet bold and tough looking. I think that many men, a bit cautious of wearing jewelry, might feel attracted to this look and feel of her collection Alpha, as it has an overall modest feel to it.
The gold is not obviously gold and the items have that sort of testorone feel to it :-) Snakes, skulls, barb wire, knots and some religious symbols. Maybe it's true that it is not easy to come up with much different items. But I feel always just slightly dissappointed to see all the same symbols over and over again.
Yet, true: I would not be able to come up with other symbols that would be widely accepted by a large group of men. So, one has to play with a limited amount of icons and symbols.
My first impression of this collection is a very positive one. I can imagine easily how my own male friends and family, would wear this. Even if they are slightly reluctant to men jewelry. It's probably the smaller dimension and the blackened gold that does the trick. For the past decade we saw a booming trend in flashy bold very shiny male jewelry from brands like Buddha to Buddha. This is far more modest, yet far more precious. Understated chique....
